About MJ Insurance, Inc.

Since 1964, MJ Insurance has grown to become the largest locally owned, privately held, independent insurance agency in Indiana and is currently ranked 69th in the US, according to the Insurance Journal publications. Our insurance product offerings include property and casualty, employee benefits, surety bonds and personal lines of coverage.

What do you find most motivational about working for this organization?

We are continuing to grow in spite of the economy and have a well-communicated plan of where we are going over the next 3-5 years and are on track to get there.

They are working to engage all levels of staff in making the organization grow and become even more successful.

The leader has compassion, he is honest and caring while holding not only himself but all of his team and associates to high moral and ethical standards.

What do you find most motivational about working for this organization?

Mutual respect for individuals with whom I work. When you care about those that you report to, you have a stronger desire to do a good job or to take the extra step.

I truly believe management cares about their employees. The people here are great to work with and are generally happy. My boss allows me have the flexibility I need to do my job.

We are not treated as employees, we are treated as family members. I have worked in other "corporate" environments where I was merely a statistic, where here I am cared for as if I was family!

What aspects of your benefits package do you find most valuable?

To be a small firm, I find that our package is very competitive with our peers and MJ goes above and beyond to promote wellness. Again, they treat us like family and care about us and our well being.

What does the leader of this organization do well?

They listen and respond accordingly. They also are very good money managers and have been able to make it through these tough economic times without laying anyone off.

What impresses you most about senior management's understanding of what is happening in this organization?

They are open to suggestions from employees and listen when an employee has something to say, in order to make the company even better than it is.

I love my job because...

No limits on level of success that can be achieved. Very in tune with work / life balance, community involvement, and wellness initiatives.

How does this organization help you to learn and grow?

I am given responsibility to take on new tasks continually. There is always something new happening providing opportunity for growth.

I can do my work without someone looking over my shoulder. My managers trust me to do my job with out being watched.

I have flexibility to do many things outside of the box. I can be creative in the way that I approach things.

They listen, communicate what they have heard, and work to make necessary changes if that is what is needed.

What makes you feel appreciated at this organization?

Continued solicitation of employee feedback; organization acknowledges and acts on that feedback.
