DAC was founded in 1887. Albert Kahn designed the clubhouse that was built in 1915 which is a historic and beautiful landmark in downtown Detroit; two stadiums and three theaters located adjacent to the Club; largest private bowling program in the nation (8 lanes, over 500 bowlers); the DAC's 4th floor swimming pool when filled weighs nearly one million pounds--it is believed to be the first pool built so many stories off ground level.
