Lowell General Hospital is an independent, not-for-profit, 217-bed community hospital serving the diverse population of the Greater Lowell area and surrounding communities. The hospital offers a full range of medical and surgical services for patients from newborns to seniors.

In addition to 24/7 emergency and critical care services, the hospital features the Heart and Vascular Center, Regional Center for Maternal and Pediatric Care in partnership with Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, a Level IIB Special Care Nursery, and a nationally recognized Cancer Center.

The hospital’s satellite campus, Lowell General Chelmsford, offers outpatient services including the Surgery Center, Imaging Center, Patient Services Center, and the Center for Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery.

The Lowell General family also includes the Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Lowell and Lowell Community Health Center.

Lowell General Hospital was recognized as the fastest growing hospital in Massachusetts during 2008 by the MHA. For the second consecutive year, Cleverley + Associates ranked us a Top 100 Community Value Provider for financial efficiency and quality.

Embracing technology, we were named to the nation's 100 Most Wired list, ranking in the category of Most Improved and appeared in the July 21st issue of U.S. World and News Reports. Our comprehensive informatics systems have lead to international recognition in 2009 and new integrated surgical suites enable advanced procedures and state-of-the-art techniques within our operating rooms.

Lowell General Hospital is recognized by the American Heart Association's (AHA) Get With The Guidelines-Coronary Artery Disease and Heart Failure programs. The AHA has awarded us with Gold Level designation as a Fit-Friendly Company for 2008 and 2009 as result of the many healthy options within the workplace.

We are among only 40 hospitals in the country and two in the Northeast with an interactive multimedia system for patients, Skylight ACCESS®, which provides service response, educational videos, internet access, custom hospital information, and free movies and entertainment.

We were voted among Top 3 Hospitals to Work For in New England by Advance for Nurses Magazine in 2008 and 2009 and ranked to the Boston Business Journal's Top 25 Largest Area Hospitals in 2008 and 2009.
