CDM is a consulting, engineering, construction, and operations firm delivering exceptional service to public and private clients worldwide. We develop sustainable solutions in water, environment, transportation, energy, and facilities. Since our founding in 1947, CDM has been a leader in providing lasting solutions for environmental and public health protection, while supporting economic growth and development. Our projects span the globe and range from building schools and health clinics in Pakistan, to designing advanced membrane water treatment facilities in the United States, developing geothermal energy solutions in Germany, and designing modern sewerage systems throughout Egypt. In Massachusetts, some of our landmark projects have included the facilities master plan and design for the Boston Harbor clean-up; remediation of a brownfield site and redevelopment into Danehey Park in Cambridge; and design and construction of an advanced water treatment plant in Lawrence.
CDM is a privately held, employee-owned firm, giving our staff the opportunity to invest in the firm and share the profits of our success. Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the firm was founded in 1947 by Dr. Thomas Camp, who left his position as chairman of the Sanitary Engineering Department at MIT to start a consulting practice with Dr. Jack McKee and Herman Dresser. Dr. Camp pioneered water treatment technologies and designed Cambridge’s first water filtration plant. The firm has grown from a consulting practice of three engineers to a global engineering and construction firm of more than 4,600 employees serving clients from 120 offices on five continents.
