Beaumont Hospitals is a three-hospital regional health care provider with 1,696 licensed beds and 3,000 physicians in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties. In addition to its hospitals, Beaumont operates numerous community-based medical centers, five nursing centers, a research institute, home care services and hospice. Beaumont, Royal Oak is a 1,061-bed major academic and referral center with Level I trauma status. The hospital ranks first in the United States for inpatient admissions and second for its number of surgeries. Beaumont, Troy is among the nation's highest-volume community hospitals with 361 beds. Beaumont, Grosse Pointe, a 289-bed community hospital, was acquired in October 2007. Ninety-one medical and surgical specialties are represented on the Beaumont medical staffs. A major teaching facility, Beaumont is partnering with Oakland University to establish a private medical school to open in 2011.
In 2010, the Beaumont Health System had 94,199 inpatient admissions, performed 37,649 surgeries, had 218,371 emergency center visits, 9,082 births and 1,884,664 outpatient visits.
