West Bend is a mutual insurance company providing commercial, personal and specialty lines of property/casualty insurance products. Currently we write business in the Midwestern states of Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio, Missouri and Kentucky. Personal lines provides coverage to individuals and families on such things as auto, home, and recreational vehicles. Exclusive to West Bend's personal lines is a package known as the Home and Highway® policy, which covers the standard items listed above along with other personal property and includes many value-added features and discounts.
Commercial lines provide property, liability, workers compensation, and auto insurances to businesses. These sales comprise nearly 75% of our company's written business. We recently introduced a new product called West Bend Smart Business, a comprehensive program geared towards our small commercial accounts. Personal and Commercial consumers purchase our products from a network of independent insurance agencies. Our mutual status offers the freedom and flexibility to make decisions in the best interests of our policyholders, associates, and agents.
