About Saint John Medical Center
St. John Medical Center, a Catholic Hospital that is co-owned by the Sisters of Charity Health System and University Hospitals, has provided residents of western Cuyahoga and eastern Lorain counties with quality health care since 1981. The 194-bed acute care, teaching hospital is known for its women and children's services as well as pain management, kidney stone center, urodynamic center and the spine & orthopedic center. The hospital is a level III trauma center and its emergency department has achieved accreditation as a primary stroke center and chest pain center.
St. John Medical Center was the first hospital on the West side of Cleveland to utilize the 12-lead ekg initiative that allows the emergency department to receive real-time data from paramedics in the field in order to save valuable diagnostic time in cardiac emergencies. Also, the hospital recently opened a holistic birthing center, outpatient infusion center and balance center.
