Vertex is a global biotechnology company that aims to discover and develop innovative new medicines so people with serious diseases can lead better lives. Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Boston, Vertex today employs more than 1,800 people at sites around the world. Vertex scientists and our collaborators are working on new medicines for cystic fibrosis (CF), a serious and life-shortening disease for which there is no cure. Vertex has delivered two new breakthrough medicines for CF in the last three years. These medicines are the first to treat the underlying cause of CF, not just the symptoms.
We also have more than a dozen research programs aimed at other serious and life-threatening diseases. Vertex has previously been recognized on the Boston Globe’s “Top Places to Work” survey and, for five years in a row, Science magazine has named Vertex one of its Top Employers in the life sciences.
“I am challenged every day to raise the bar in research to deliver effective treatment to patients.”
“I am doing what I love, I am surrounded by great people, and we are all contributing to an amazing cause.”
“My actions matter and I make a difference.”
“We are doing extraordinary science to help patients with serious diseases.”
