Lowell General Hospital is an independent, not-for-profit, 217-bed community hospital serving the diverse population of the Greater Lowell area and surrounding communities. The hospital encompasses ten buildings, the latest state-of-the-art technology and a full range of medical and surgical services for patients, from newborns to seniors, including: the Regional Center for Maternal and Pediatric Care in partnership with Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, including a Level IIB Special Care Nursery, the Cancer Center, and the Heart and Vascular Center. The hospital’s satellite campus, Lowell General Chelmsford, offers a variety of outpatient services, including the Imaging Center, the Patient Services Center, the Surgery Center and the Center for Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery. The Lowell General family also includes the Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Lowell and Lowell Community Health Center.

This year, the Boston Business Journal recognized Lowell General among the 25 largest hospitals in MA for the second year in a row, and for the first time among the 20 best large companies to work for in MA. We recently became the first hospital in the Merrimack Valley to sign the Commonwealth Compact highlighting our commitment to a supportive and diverse work environment. A Board goal was set to increase the hospital’s culturally diverse workforce by 20 percent over a five-year period with targeted increases in subsequent years. For the third year in a row, Lowell General Hospital was nationally recognized as a Top 100 Community Value Provider for financial efficiency and quality by Cleverley + Associates. We were recognized by the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines program for the fourth year and were named to their 2009 Gold-level Fit Friendly Company list and we were named among the Top 100 Most Wired Hospitals publication.
