








Named among the "Best Hospitals in America" by US News & World Report for five consecutive years, Clarian Health is the result of a cooperative effort of three Downtown Indianapolis hospitals to combine resources, research, staff and administrative procedures. Methodist Hospital, Indiana University Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children united in 1997 under Clarian Health. A private, nonprofit organization, Clarian owns or is affiliated with more than 20 hospitals and health centers throughout Indiana and is closely tied to the Indiana University School of Medicine. More than half of the IU School of Medicine's 970 physicians practice, supervise and teach residents and fellows at one of Clarian's hospitals. In addition, the research conducted through the IU School of Medicine leads to the breakthroughs that make a difference in the lives of Clarian's patients.
Clarian is affiliate with more than 15 hospitals and health centers and is the largest Academic Medical Center in Indiana. Clarian was recognized as one of the nation's best academic medical centers for the third consecutive year by the University HealthSystem Consortium. Clarian is home to the largest transplant program in the Midwest, including the largest pancreas transplant program in the nation. Clarian is the home of many life saving procedures and health technologies, such as the first private hospital in the nation (Methodist) to perform a heart transplant and Indiana's first artificial heart implant. Indiana's only pediatric burn unit and Level One trauma center are located at Riley Hospital for Children. IU Hospital researchers turned testicular cancer from having a 90 percent mortality rate to a 90 percent cure rate.
