Christiana Care Health System is a not-for-profit, research-based teaching hospital, recognized as a regional center for excellence in cardiology, cancer and women's health services, the only Level I trauma center between Philadelphia and Baltimore and is a Level 3 neonatal intensive care (both levels reflecting the highest capability).

Christiana Care features two hospitals with over 1,100 patient beds, and ranks 16th in admissions among all hospitals in the country. Christiana Care offers a home health care service, preventive medicine & rehabilitation services, a network of primary care physicians and an extensive range of outpatient services.

Christiana Care is a founding member of the Delaware Health Sciences Alliance. The alliance enables partner organizations to conduct cutting-edge biomedical research, to improve the health of Delawareans through access to services in the state and region, and to educate the next generation of health care professionals.

With over 10,000 employees, Christiana Care is the largest private employer in Delaware and the 10th largest employer in the Philadelphia region. Christiana Care also counts over 1,300 volunteers.

A $210 million project is underway to expand and renovate our Wilmington Hospital campus. The initiative helps us continue to build a healthy community for our neighbors in Wilmington and adds nearly 600 jobs.

Our Christiana Hospital campus is home to a seven-room, Virtual Education and Simulation Technology Center. Life-like, computer-controlled human patient manikins respond to stimuli, breathe, speak, blink their eyes, and produce heart beats and blood pressure readings.

We are the lone Delaware hospital to achieve Magnet® recognition for excellence in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

We have received various environmental excellence awards and in the First Quarter of 2011 alone recycled over 175 tons of paper, cardboard and other materials.
